My editorial information pages which are based on the upcoming World Cup provide useful as well as interesting information for football fans across the world. Firstly, I think this product will help with promoting and making as many people as possible engage in the tournament as they’ll be feeling the world cup spirit. My spread pages consist of a main heading, sub-headings with relevant information below, and a variety of graphics that make the pages stand out and look relevant to the topic.
Before I finalised how my spread pages will look, I’ve spent some time planning and drafting through sketches in my notebook. As you can see, these are some of my ideas I’ve came up with for my spread pages however I’ve not used all of them, and whilst in the process of constructing these spread pages I have came up with different ideas along the way.

For all my spread pages I have kept a similar format with the basic format I have established for my spread pages. Being a conceptional idea of a football pitch layout in the background made up of lines and shapes, 3D heading and information boxes with the relevant text information. However, some spread pages are unique to others as they have their own illustrated creations that link to a specific topic of a spread page, also adding the conceptual design to the spread pages. Each spread page is split into two with main heading being on the right-hand side whilst the relevant information to the specific topic is featured on both sides of the pages with the football pitch background spread across the two pages.
As you can see my first spread page focuses on the topic of ‘Stadiums’ which shows a summary of each stadium that will be used for the competition. I have included each stadium in the usual layout box design as each box is rotated on an angle to make the spread pages stand out and be less generic. Each of the information boxes has the name of the stadium at the top with the relevant information such as the city it is located and the capacity. To make this spread page unique and relevant to it’s topic I have constructed basic layout of Wembley Stadium through the use of shapes and colours and placed it in the left corner of the page.

My second spread page focuses on the ‘Group Stages’ which is a main aspect of football competitions whether it is the Champions League or the World Cup. I’ve included this information as group stage draws are one of the most exciting procedures that occur before the competition starts as every nation find out who they’ll be playing to fight for the play-off spots. I’ve listed the confirmed group stages by using the same information box format however unlike the ‘Stadiums’ spread page I’ve made the boxes of groups vertically straight rather than them being on an angle as it makes it easier for the viewers to gather information. I’ve decided to add each nations flag in a hexagon shape which I’ve constructed through shapes and colour pallets as it pinpoints the nations clearer, again making it easier for the viewers to gather information, but it also adds a creative flair making the overall spread page more exciting. However, I felt that there was something missing to this spread page, so I decided to add the masthead logo in low opacity as a background image for this spread page, making it more symbolic and interesting.

The final two spread pages are similar in a sense of the information it provides, these last two spread pages are labelled as ‘What to know..’ and ‘Favourites’ as each of them provide background, historic information about specific nation including facts and statistics. ‘What to know..’ spread page provides intriguing background information that you may want to know for this upcoming tournament. Similarly, the ‘Favourites’ spread page provides an overview of teams that have the biggest chance of winning the tournament.

I’ve also included parts of the flag in each information box to indicate the nation that is being discussed, the hexagon shaped flag appears from the corner and makes the overall design look neat.
